Want to learn more about history, but don't think you have the time? Think again.
This is the story of Herman Goering, one of the most controversial German political figures of the 20th century. A veteran of World War I, in 1923 he was injured in a failed coup, the Beer Hall Putsch. He was the founder of the Gestapo, commander-in-chief of the Luftwaffe from 1935 onwards, and nominated by Hitler as his right-hand man. However, he fell from grace after taking the blame for a number of wartime defeats, as the Nazi war effort began to fall apart. He surrendered to US troops at the end of the war, and was the most senior defendant at the Nuremburg Trials, eventually cheating justice by committing suicide the night before his execution.
The Very Brief History series is intended to give the reader a short, concise account of the most important events in world history. Each book provides the reader with the essential facts concerning a particular event or person; no distractions, just the essential facts, allowing the reader to master the subject in the shortest time possible.
