"John Fusco is a bonafide bluesman; he comes out smokin' with his voice and Hammond B3. A newly-appointed music maverick."
-- Elmore Magazine
"Incredibly impressive and fun. Fusco's voice is huge; like a smokier and bluesier John Mellencamp."
--Blues Rock Review
"John Fusco has gone back to the crossroads to record some organ-ically inspired tunes and -- WOW! -- it sounds awesome."
--TheBluesBlogger (thebluesblogger.com).
"Combines the loping, gritty vocals and church-ified organ of Gregg Allman with the sweaty, Southern blues muscle of Tab Benoit and Albert King."
--Mark Jordan (Memphis Flyer)
"LEGIT. Incredibly impressed. Fusco kills it on the Hammond organ. This man does it all."
--Paul Cantor, music journalist for Rolling Stone, etc.
It's a rare thing for a first album to sound as raw and spontaneous as it does lovingly-crafted and produced, but there's a true mojo working on this critically-acclaimed collaboration between singer-songwriter John Fusco and Grammy-nominated Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi All-Stars. Fusco's original, B-3 driven blues are a tribute to his music past, a traveling history that led to his 1986 semi-autobiographical film "Crossroads." After a successful three-decade filmmaking career, Fusco has returned to his music roots with palpable conviction and a soulful, swampy voice that conjures southern influence while staking its own unique place. Recorded in North Mississippi with his band the X-Road Riders -- featuring Cody Dickinson and Memphis singer Sharisse Norman -- the LP also delivers some guest star surprises:
Listen for slide guitar firebrand Luther Dickinson and Memphis rap pioneer Al Kapone on a killer reboot of Robert Johnson's 'Crossroad Blues', the only cover song among the 10 tracks -- and an appropriate tribute to the song and movie that brought Fusco and Dickinson together. Blues Rock Review says that this cover of 'Crossroad Blues' "makes the Cream version sound like a sleepy lullaby."
