Description
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities is designed to prepare participants for life onboard a ship. It provides insight into the various elements of a ship, such as working conditions, hazards, procedures, and safe work practices.Course is mainly divided into the following parts. 1. Introduction – importance of the course 2. Comply with emergency procedures 3. Take precaution to prevent pollution of the marine environment 4. Observe safe working practices 5. Contribute to effective communications on board ship 6. Contribute to effective human relationship on board ship 7. Understand and take necessary actions to control fatigueIMO made it mandatory for all prospective seafarers to follow this course as one of the Basic Safety Training courses (BST).STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) online course aims to meet the mandatory minimum standards of competence in personal safety and social responsibilities in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code, Table A-VI/1-4.Partcipants will learn the hazards found onboard ships and equipment provided by the company to mitigate them. It is mandatory that all crew members use them when and where necessary. You will also learn the Personal life saving appliances which are known as LSA for a particular ship, their location, how to don them and how to operate them individually. You are expected to learn about the types fire fighting appliances which are known as FFA for a particular ship, their location and how to use them when necessary. In addition types of emergencies onboard ships, Pollution prevention onboard ships, MARPOL regulations and Annexes, effective communication methods onboard, effective human relationship onboard, fatigue controlling measures are other parts of the course. Upon completion of the course Multi Choice Question paper will have to be answered by all participants to test their knowledge. Important words you will learn such as IMO, STCW Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, MLC 2006.This is truly a valuable course.
